FOR THE LOVE OF NOG

Every now and again I make something that’s so darn good I can hardly believe it’s good for me. This is one of those times. Definitely one of those times.

Did you know that nutmeg is a tummy soother? This smoothie is decadent treat and keep your digestive system happy. It’s a little sweet and a little spicy. Just like creamy eggnog without all the dairy and refined sugar. This smoothie tastes like eggnog and is perfect for either breakfast, a post-workout snack, or some holiday cheer!

The flavor of course will depend on the brand and type of protein powder and other ingredients that you use. Look for a good quality protein and I also add a few teaspoons of fiber to all of my smoothies for extra fiber, too.

Serves 1

  • 16 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk

  • 1 serving high-quality vanilla protein powder (I use a pea protein powder that is 100% derived complete protein with zero sugar, vegan, non-gmo, and gluten free) You can find it here

  • 1/2 frozen banana

  • 1 tbsp cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon ground flax seeds

  • 1/2 tsp of freshly grated nutmeg

  • 1 pitted date

  • big handful of ice

  • whipped cream optional :)

Method: Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth, about 60 seconds. Start on low and slowly work your way to high for the smoothest result. Enjoy immediately.
